Were you looking for a WordPress developer or a new WordPress Theme?
Well we built one, from scratch, and you can use it too. When we were looking for a theme for our new agency we couldn’t quite find one that fit the bill, so we decided to embark on making one to suit our needs.
What was interesting is that I thought I had a pretty solid understanding of how all the template magic worked behind the scenes. ( wrong.. ) Turns out you get a very new appreciation for the flow once you start chiselling it away from scratch.
Well if you like the look and feel of our new website then don’t worry, we have done the hard work so you don’t have to.
How do I get your site’s WordPress theme?
Well if you just want to rush to the fun part then head on over to the WordPress theme release page and grab the latest.
Follow these steps to get the git-blog-theme
onto your WordPress Install:
- Head to your WordPress Dashboard
- Hover of Appearance > Themes
- Once in Themes click on “Add New Theme”
- That will lead you to “Upload Theme”
- You can now upload
git-blog-theme.zip
From here you can either preview or install and then activate the theme if you should wish to try it out on your website.
I would like to know how the pudding was made, please.
If you’re interested in the more nitty-gritty of how WordPress themes are made then continue below.
We started out with a TailwindCSS WordPress theme generator called TailPress. This allowed us to get most of the boiler-plate templates out of the way early, and then build out the features we knew we wanted – ( responsive cards, pagination, mobile menus etc ).
If you are into WordPress theme development you can view the entire theme over at our GitHub page, follow the instructions, clone the repo and you’ll be up in running in ten minutes or so.
